Lapu was a chief on Mactan Island - Magellan was experiencing a bit of trouble and went to suppress the chief but lost
his life in the process. The shrine to Magellan is in Cebu and the shrine to Lapu Lapu is on Mactan Island. Lapu Lapu
is also a name of a local fish
